My husband (and pastor)shared this truth with a friend. I thought it might be a blessing to us all.
Dear Unhappy Spouse,
The truth about marriage is that we typically become too conscious of the other person and make them our sole focus and concern. The major reasons for unhappiness in marriage is that we allow another person determine our joy and peace. We ignore God or give Him the back seat while we make our spouse (a human being) the driver of our lives.

You must learn how to break this power of your spouse to control your emotions this way.
Why is it that when he/she is happy and cooperating, you are happy but when he/she is otherwise, you feel bad? Is it not because he/she is now your "god" that you respond to so easily?
No human being must occupy this role in your life. They cooperate or not, well behaved or not. Only God can and must fill/control your life like this.
When this switch happens, no matter what a human being does...you will just be looking at him/her like the way you looked at my earlier question.
Then, two things can happen to him/her. He/she changes because he/she cannot control you again 
OR
he /she doesn't change.

Either way, you will still be at peace with yourself and God.
I know you may have some fears...they maybe perceived financial or companionship needs. But what if he/she ran away to another country and you never see him/her again. Will you continue to be in hell or move on with God's help?
So, from today, with God's help, I want you to stop depending on him /her for your joy. You are empowering him/her to hurt you more.
Please disable the button he/she seems to press in your life like remote control. Remove the sensors and he/she will have no more control over your life.
God will see you through.
Let's start from this point.
I want to believe there is no present physical threat to your life...if there is (violence) please you need to be safe first. Only the living find help on earth.

The book, Raising of Sons by Ibidun Olude , has been widely considered a masterpiece for helping humanity refocus attention on the Creator’s original plan for His Male expression (i.e. the male gender).
